Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rice (regular and parboiled mix)
  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Soak the rice and urad dal in water for 4 to 6 hours, or overnight.
  2. Blend the soaked ingredients with yogurt and water until smooth.
  3. Ferment the batter in a warm place for 6 to 8 hours.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet and lightly grease it with ghee or oil.
  5. Cook a ladleful of batter, spreading it in a circular motion.
  6. Flip when edges are crisp, cooking both sides until golden brown.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute urad dal with brown rice flour. Serve dosas with coconut chutney or sambar for a delightful meal.
