Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or parsley (optional)
  • Cayenne or red pepper flakes (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground pork with the spices and seasonings in a large mixing bowl until well incorporated.
  2. Add in the chopped garlic and onions, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.
  3. Taste and adjust the seasoning by cooking a small amount in a skillet.
  4. Form the mixture into small patties, about 1-2 inches wide.
  5. Cook in a preheated skillet over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite breakfast sides.

Notes

Feel free to customize the spices and meat according to your preference. This dish can also be made vegetarian with mushrooms and lentils.
