Description
A comforting and guilt-free dessert that combines tart apples with a crunchy oat topping, perfect for sharing with family or friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups tart apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup rolled oats (gluten-free if needed)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)
- 1/4 cup nut butter (e.g., almond or peanut butter)
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and slice your chosen apples and toss them in a large bowl with cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweetener.
- Make the crumble topping: In a separate bowl, combine oats, chopped nuts, nut butter, more cinnamon, and sweetener, mixing until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Assemble: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a baking dish, layer the seasoned apples evenly and sprinkle the oat mixture generously on top.
- Bake: Slide your dish into the oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes until the apples are bubbling and the topping turns golden brown.
- Serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving, optionally with vanilla almond ice cream or yogurt.
Notes
For a nut-free version, omit the nuts and add more oats. You can also experiment with different fruits for a twist.
