  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for whipped cream)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries by washing, hulling, and slicing them. Sprinkle with sugar and let sit for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
  4. Mix the cake flour and baking powder into the butter mixture, alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for about 25 minutes.
  6. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  7. Assemble the cake by layering cake, whipped cream, and strawberries, and repeat until all layers are used.
  8. Finish the top with remaining whipped cream and decorate with any leftover strawberries.
