A delightful strawberry chocolate shell cake that combines moist layers of cake with rich chocolate and succulent strawberries.

- 2 cups cake flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 8 ounces dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans and set them aside.
- Whisk together the cake flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well after each addition. Slowly incorporate the milk until smooth.
- Fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool in pans.
- Melt the dark chocolate, stirring frequently.
- Assemble the cake by layering strawberries and chocolate between the two cake layers, then pour remaining chocolate over the top.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
- Garnish with additional strawberry slices or mint leaves.
Notes
Allow your cakes to cool completely before pouring the chocolate shell to prevent it from running off too quickly.
