Ingredients

- 8 ounces pasta (fettuccine or penne)
- 8 ounces fresh mushrooms (cremini or button)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or thyme for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
- Sauté the mushrooms in a large skillet over medium heat with butter and olive oil until tender and golden brown, about 5–7 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Create the sauce by pouring in the heavy cream and simmer for 4–5 minutes, adding reserved pasta water if too thick.
- Season with grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper; stir until melted and combined.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the creamy mushroom sauce, tossing well.
- Finish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.
Notes
For a lighter option, you can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or plant-based cream. You can also try different types of mushrooms for varied flavors.
