Description

A creamy, velvety dessert featuring a smooth custard base topped with rich, golden caramel.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) Evaporated Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar (for caramel)
  • 1/4 cup Water (for caramel)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your caramel: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine granulated sugar and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Increase heat and allow it to boil until it turns golden amber, then pour into a flan mold.
  2. Create the custard mixture: Blend the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Combine and strain the mixture over the cooled caramel for a silkier texture.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the flan mold in a larger dish, add hot water to the outer dish, and bake for 50-60 minutes.
  5. Chill: Allow to cool completely, then refrigerate for at least four hours, preferably overnight.
  6. Serve: Run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate to serve.

Notes

For a lighter flan, use egg whites only. Serve with berries or whipped cream for enhanced flavor.
