Description

Delicious and nutritious protein bagels with a crunchy sunflower seed topping, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup protein powder (whey, pea, or blend)
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds (or pumpkin seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (kosher)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or avocado oil)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Stir in the protein powder until evenly mixed.
  4. Add warm water and olive oil; mix until a rough dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Divide the dough into balls, creating a hole in each one to shape into a bagel.
  7. Sprinkle sunflower seeds on top and gently press them in.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool on a wire rack before enjoying.

Notes

Boiling the bagels in water with malt syrup before baking can enhance the exterior. Letting the bagels rest helps achieve a fluffy inside.
