Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup protein powder (whey, pea, or blend)
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds (or pumpkin seeds)
- 1 teaspoon salt (kosher)
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or avocado oil)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Stir in the protein powder until evenly mixed.
- Add warm water and olive oil; mix until a rough dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into balls, creating a hole in each one to shape into a bagel.
- Sprinkle sunflower seeds on top and gently press them in.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack before enjoying.
Notes
Boiling the bagels in water with malt syrup before baking can enhance the exterior. Letting the bagels rest helps achieve a fluffy inside.
