Description

Delightful mini bread bowls filled with hearty chili, perfect for gatherings and celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, or chicken)
  • 2 cans beans (kidney, black, or pinto)
  • 2 cups diced or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sturdy bread rolls (sourdough, baguettes, or similar)
  • Olive oil for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the tops off your rolls and hollow out the insides, leaving enough bread to hold your chili.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until translucent—about 5 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  5. Stir in the ground meat and cook until browned.
  6. Add bell peppers, beans, tomatoes, and spices. Stir and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
  7. Brush the insides of the bread bowls with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes until golden.
  8. Spoon chili into each bread bowl and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider toasting the outsides of the bread bowls as well. Customize the chili by adding jalapeños for heat or using plant-based meat for a vegetarian option.
