Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thick and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden brown. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
  8. Decorate as desired with icing and sprinkles.
