  • Author: joe
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Non-Vegetarian

Description

Delicious flautas filled with seasoned chicken, fried until crispy and served with a cooling crema.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs
  • 8 tortillas (corn or flour)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup Mexican blend cheese or Monterey Jack
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook chicken in a skillet over medium heat with spices and a bit of water until cooked through.
  2. Shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces once cool.
  3. Warm tortillas slightly to make rolling easier.
  4. Fill each tortilla with a spoonful of shredded chicken and cheese, then roll tightly.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet and place flautas seam-side down.
  6. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4–5 minutes each side.
  7. Drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  8. For a healthier option, preheat oven to 400°F and bake for 20–25 minutes until crispy.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the skillet while frying for the best crispiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
