Description
A luxurious and creamy chocolate mousse that’s perfect for any occasion, made with dark chocolate, eggs, and whipped cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz Dark Chocolate (70% cocoa)
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- Start by melting the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, ensuring it doesn’t seize. Stir it until smooth, then allow it to cool slightly.
- Separate the egg yolks from the whites. In a bowl, whisk the yolks with granulated sugar until pale and thick.
- Stir the melted chocolate into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture, being careful not to deflate it.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Slowly fold the whites into the chocolate mixture, maintaining the airy texture.
- Spoon the mousse into serving dishes and chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
- Consider garnishing with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or fresh berries for a final touch.
Notes
Use high-quality chocolate for best results; avoid overmixing to keep the mousse airy.
