Description
A comforting and nostalgic banana nut bread topped with a delightful honey glaze, perfect for family gatherings and casual brunches.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/4 cup honey (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash the ripe bananas until smooth, leaving a few small lumps for texture.
- Mix in melted butter until combined, then stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture.
- Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Prepare the honey glaze by combining honey, melted butter, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan and heating until warm.
- Remove the bread from the oven, cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then flip onto a wire rack and brush with honey glaze.
- Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Use overripe bananas for best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter to maintain a moist texture.
