Description

A quick and delicious dinner featuring tender beef and vibrant broccoli in a sweet-savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Add the beef strips and let them soak for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Prep the broccoli. Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets and blanch them in boiling water for about 2 minutes.
  3. Heat your skillet. Add vegetable oil over medium-high heat and allow it to shimmer.
  4. Sauté the beef. Add marinated beef strips to the hot oil and brown for about 3-4 minutes on one side.
  5. Add broccoli and sauce. Toss in the blanched broccoli and pour in the remaining marinade, cooking for another minute.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
  7. Serve hot with a side of rice or noodles.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, whisk together cornstarch with water before adding to the dish.
