Description
This delightful Apple Rose Tart combines sweet, cinnamon-spiced apples in a flaky crust, perfect for sharing joyous moments with loved ones.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of pastry dough
- 4–5 tart apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Optional: Fresh rosemary or mint
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: If making homemade dough, mix flour, butter, and a pinch of salt until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until mixture forms a ball. Chill the dough in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Slice the Apples: Wash and core your apples. Cut them into thin slices, about 1/8 inch thick.
- Prep the Apples: Combine apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Let them sit for about 15 minutes.
- Roll out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out your dough into a circle, roughly 12 inches in diameter. Transfer to a tart or pie dish. Trim any excess over the edges.
- Layer the Apples: Starting from the outer edge, arrange apple slices beautifully, overlapping them slightly. Work your way inward until the entire surface is covered.
- Brush with Butter: Melt butter and brush gently over the apples.
- Bake the Tart: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let tart cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy it on its own or with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, use almond flour. For a vegan version, substitute butter with coconut oil or applesauce.
