- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- 1/2 cup nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Crack in the eggs, adding one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Blend well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, replace butter with coconut oil. To make it gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend.
