Description

A delightful dessert that combines the textures of a cookie and cake, filled with rich flavors of butter, brown sugar, and chocolate.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Crack in the eggs, adding one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Blend well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, replace butter with coconut oil. To make it gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend.
