Description

A comforting and indulgent pasta dish featuring tender steak, a rich creamy sauce, and earthy mushrooms.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Fettuccine or Tagliatelle pasta
  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cremini or shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (chives, parsley, or thyme)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Boil a pot of salted water, add pasta, and cook until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Sear the steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and butter, season steak with salt and pepper, sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, then rest and slice.
  3. Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add olive oil, onion, and garlic, and sauté until fragrant and translucent (2-3 minutes).
  4. Add mushrooms: Stir in sliced mushrooms and cook until tender and golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  5. Create the sauce: Reduce heat to medium-low, stir in heavy cream, and let simmer. Grate in Parmesan cheese and mix until smooth.
  6. Combine everything: Add sliced steak and cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to combine. Add reserved pasta water as needed, then mix in fresh herbs and adjust seasoning.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Plate the pasta, garnish with additional Parmesan and fresh herbs.

Notes

For lighter options, substitute half-and-half or Greek yogurt for heavy cream. You can also use chicken or shrimp instead of steak.
