Description

A delightful layered cake filled with rich buttery flavors and sweet strawberry jam, perfect for sharing love on Valentine’s Day.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Strawberry jam, for layering
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Heart sprinkles, for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, and mix well. Blend in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with milk until well combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks. Once cooled, spread buttercream frosting between the layers and on top, finishing with sprinkles.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use almond milk or oat milk. For egg substitutes, consider unsweetened applesauce or mashed bananas.
