Description
Delightful heart-shaped cookies that embody love and nostalgia, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- Optional: Sprinkles, colored sugar, or icing for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well until fully incorporated.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate these dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
- Stir gently until combined. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Use a heart-shaped cutter to stamp out cookies.
- Place cutouts on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges turn lightly golden.
- Cool on wire racks before decorating. Serve and share with family and friends.
Notes
Use cold butter for better shape retention, and always chill the dough before rolling it out.
