Description

Deliciously soft and chewy oatmeal cookies that are a family favorite, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 cup nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, blending fully.
  6. Fold in add-ins like chocolate chips or nuts, keeping them evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing them apart, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to maintain thickness. Don’t overbake for perfect chewiness.
