- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sauté finely chopped onions and minced garlic in olive oil over medium heat until soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed onions, mashed potatoes, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands.
- Transfer the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or into a loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the internal temperature reads 160°F (70°C).
- Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
Notes
Brush a light layer of ketchup or barbecue sauce on top before baking for added flavor. Avoid over-mixing the meat mixture to prevent a dense texture.
