Description

Savory salmon cakes made with canned salmon, herbs, and spices, offering a delightful crunch and rich flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can of quality canned salmon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (panko preferred)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or dill)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: a pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients. Open the canned salmon and let it drain. Flake the salmon with a fork.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until translucent.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flaked salmon, sautéed onions, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Add herbs and season with salt, pepper, and cayenne if desired.
  4. Shape the mixture into patties.
  5. In the skillet, add more oil and carefully place patties. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Once cooked, place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil and serve warm.

Notes

Resting the cakes after cooking helps them firm up for easier handling. Ensure oil is hot enough before frying for a crispy texture.
