Description

Delicious homemade breakfast sausages flavored with sage, thyme, and a touch of sweetness, perfect for any brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground pork (or ground turkey/chicken)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sage (fresh or dried)
  • 1 tablespoon thyme (fresh or dried)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Measure ground meat into a large mixing bowl. Finely chop the garlic and onion, then add to the bowl along with salt, sage, thyme, black pepper, and brown sugar.
  2. Mixing It Up: Mix all ingredients gently using your hands, taking care not to overmix.
  3. Taste Testing: Sauté a small patty in a skillet to check seasoning and adjust if necessary.
  4. Forming Sausages: Wet your hands slightly and form the mixture into patties or links.
  5. Cooking: Heat a skillet over medium heat with a bit of oil or butter. Cook sausages for 5-7 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F).
  6. Serving Suggestions: Serve warm with scrambled eggs, bacon, or on a biscuit.

Notes

For a leaner version, you can substitute ground pork with ground turkey or chicken. Adjust seasonings according to taste when mixing.
