Description

A nostalgic and delicious apple crisp made with Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples, topped with a buttery crumb mixture. Perfect for autumn gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: chopped nuts, vanilla extract, other fruits (pears, blueberries, cranberries)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  3. In another bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and top with the oat mixture.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.
