- 6 cups Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: chopped nuts, vanilla extract, other fruits (pears, blueberries, cranberries)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- In another bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until crumbly.
- Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and top with the oat mixture.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.
