Description

A rich, smoky Texas chili with hearty meat, earthy spices, and a perfect blend of flavors that celebrate the joy of sharing food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or chuck
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) fire-roasted tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Fresh herbs (cilantro or parsley) for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, around 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef, browning it and breaking it apart with a spoon. Do not rush this step to enhance the flavor.
  3. Add canned tomatoes (with juice), chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for another minute.
  4. Pour in beef broth to achieve desired consistency. Stir well.
  5. Reduce heat and let the chili simmer uncovered for at least 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Serve in bowls with toppings like shredded cheese, fresh herbs, or sour cream.

Notes

For variations, consider adding beans or adjusting heat levels based on your preference. Letting the chili rest enhances the flavors.
