- 2–4 tablespoons cream or milk
Instructions
- Prepare your baking sheets: Line with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- Sift the dry ingredients: Combine almond flour and confectioners’ sugar.
- Whip the egg whites: Beat until foamy, gradually adding granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in the dry ingredients: Incorporate gently until you reach a lava-like consistency.
- Add food coloring (if desired): Fold until color is consistent.
- Pipe the macarons: Use a piping bag to create small circles on the baking sheets.
- Rest the shells: Allow the piped macarons to form a skin for 30 to 60 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Prepare the buttercream: Whip softened butter, add powdered sugar and cream until smooth.
- Assemble the macarons: Pair cookies and pipe buttercream filling between them.
- Let them mature: Refrigerate for a day and allow to reach room temperature before serving.
