Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, for egg wash
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Wash and chop the strawberries, mix with 1 tablespoon of sugar, and let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to 1/8 inch thick and cut into 4×4 inch squares.
  4. In a bowl, combine cream cheese, remaining sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Place a spoonful of cream cheese mixture and strawberries in the center of each pastry square. Fold and seal the edges.
  6. Brush the tops with egg wash.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a savory variation, replace cream cheese with ricotta and add herbs. These pastries can also be adapted with seasonal fruits like blueberries or raspberries.
