- 1 package puff pastry
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg, for egg wash
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Wash and chop the strawberries, mix with 1 tablespoon of sugar, and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to 1/8 inch thick and cut into 4×4 inch squares.
- In a bowl, combine cream cheese, remaining sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Place a spoonful of cream cheese mixture and strawberries in the center of each pastry square. Fold and seal the edges.
- Brush the tops with egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For a savory variation, replace cream cheese with ricotta and add herbs. These pastries can also be adapted with seasonal fruits like blueberries or raspberries.
