Description

A heartwarming family favorite that delivers tender, smoky pulled pork cooked to perfection in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs Pork Shoulder (Boston Butt)
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar with spices. Rub this mixture all over the pork and let it rest for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Place sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Lay the seasoned pork over the onions and pour in the apple cider vinegar and BBQ sauce.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  6. When fork-tender, remove the pork from the slow cooker, let it rest, then shred it with two forks. Mix in additional BBQ sauce if desired.
  7. Serve on toasted buns with coleslaw, garnished with chopped cilantro or parsley.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 195°F to 205°F. Allow resting before shredding.
