Description
A heartwarming family favorite that delivers tender, smoky pulled pork cooked to perfection in a slow cooker.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 lbs Pork Shoulder (Boston Butt)
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
- 1 tablespoon Paprika
- 1 tablespoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup BBQ Sauce
- 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Onion, sliced
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and pat it dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar with spices. Rub this mixture all over the pork and let it rest for at least 15 minutes.
- Place sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Lay the seasoned pork over the onions and pour in the apple cider vinegar and BBQ sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
- When fork-tender, remove the pork from the slow cooker, let it rest, then shred it with two forks. Mix in additional BBQ sauce if desired.
- Serve on toasted buns with coleslaw, garnished with chopped cilantro or parsley.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 195°F to 205°F. Allow resting before shredding.
