- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp Active Dry Yeast
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 2 Eggs
- 1/4 cup Butter, melted
- 8 oz Cream Cheese
- 1/2 cup Strawberry Jam
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle in active dry yeast and let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and melted butter. Add the milk mixture and eggs, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- After rising, punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut out circles with a donut cutter.
- Let the cut donuts rest for another 30 minutes, covered.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, vanilla extract, and strawberry jam until smooth.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F. Fry donuts until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and fill each donut with the cream cheese mixture using a piping bag.
- Optionally, dip the tops in sugar or drizzle with a simple glaze before serving.
Notes
Monitor oil temperature while frying to avoid burning or excess oil absorption. Allow adequate rising time for fluffy donuts.
