- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in buttermilk and red food coloring.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just incorporated.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
- Scoop chilled dough into tablespoon-sized balls and roll in powdered sugar.
- Place on the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are firm but centers are soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Enjoy fresh or store in an airtight container.
