Description

Deliciously tender pumpkin scones drizzled with a rich maple glaze, perfect for autumn gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of salt
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, diced
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons pure maple syrup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Stir in the sugar until well combined.
  4. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. In another bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a disc about 1-inch thick. Cut into wedges or use a round cutter.
  7. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over cooled scones and enjoy!

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using whole wheat flour or a gluten-free blend. Allow the dough to rest briefly before baking for best results.
