Description
Delightful festive treats shaped like Christmas trees, combining flaky puff pastry with savory mushroom and cheese filling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
- 8 oz mushrooms (button or cremini, sliced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup cheese (Gruyère or mozzarella, shredded)
- Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, or basil, chopped)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Olive oil (for sautéing)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic for 1 minute, then add sliced mushrooms. Cook until soft (5-7 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and herbs. Remove and let cool.
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into triangles.
- Make small cuts along the sides of each triangle and spread the mushroom and cheese mixture at the base. Fold the cut sections over to shape the tree.
- Brush with egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For a vegan option, use dairy-free cheese and milk for the egg wash. These trees can be made ahead and refrigerated unbaked.
