Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Peel, core, and slice the pears into thin pieces, then toss them with a sprinkle of lemon juice.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing to combine.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the sliced pears gently until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For variations, you can substitute pears with apples or peaches. To make it gluten-free, consider using almond flour with adjustments to liquid ingredients.
