Description

Delicious and festive cinnamon rolls, perfect for Halloween, decorated with spooky cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese, for frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, for frosting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, for frosting

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, gently heat the milk until warm. Add the yeast and sugar, letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and salt.
  3. Combine the yeast mixture with melted butter and eggs, stirring until mixed.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture to form a sticky dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  6. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out. Spread the filling and roll tightly into a log.
  8. Slice the log into 12-15 rolls and place in a greased baking dish. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Make the frosting by blending cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Frost the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast. Allow both rises to fully happen for fluffy rolls.
