- 1–2 tbsp red gel food coloring
- 1 tsp peppermint extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla, beating until creamy.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
- Mix in food coloring and peppermint extract.
- Scoop tablespoons of dough, roll into balls, and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until soft in the center.
- Let cool before transferring to a wire rack.
- Frost with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and peppermint extract.
