Description

A magical French toast recipe coated in crunchy cornflakes, reminiscent of joyful memories at Disneyland.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of thick bread (brioche or challah)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • 2 cups plain cornflakes
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for frying)
  • Maple syrup or powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the custard, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  3. Spread the crushed cornflakes on a plate and press each side of the soaked bread into the cornflakes.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter. Once sizzling, add the cornflake-coated bread and cook until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  5. Keep cooked slices warm in a preheated oven while you prepare the remaining slices. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with maple syrup before serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free bread. You can also add berries, bananas, or chopped nuts as toppings.
