Description

A comforting Beef and Pepper Pasta Skillet, filled with hearty beef, vibrant bell peppers, and earthy mushrooms. Perfect for family dinners and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (thinly sliced sirloin or flank steak or ground beef)
  • 8 oz spaghetti or fettuccine
  • 2 bell peppers (sliced)
  • 8 oz mushrooms (button or cremini, sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth or reserved pasta water

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until browned, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from the skillet.
  3. Add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Sauté onion and garlic in the same skillet until fragrant.
  4. Add sliced bell peppers and mushrooms, cooking until they soften, about 5 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, pour in about ½ cup of reserved pasta water along with Italian seasoning, and stir.
  6. Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing gently until well combined. Adjust the consistency with more pasta water if needed.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving. Optionally finish with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh herbs.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with tofu. Feel free to replace the pasta with gluten-free varieties or zoodles for a low-carb option.
