Description
A comforting Beef and Pepper Pasta Skillet, filled with hearty beef, vibrant bell peppers, and earthy mushrooms. Perfect for family dinners and gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef (thinly sliced sirloin or flank steak or ground beef)
- 8 oz spaghetti or fettuccine
- 2 bell peppers (sliced)
- 8 oz mushrooms (button or cremini, sliced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth or reserved pasta water
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until browned, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from the skillet.
- Add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Sauté onion and garlic in the same skillet until fragrant.
- Add sliced bell peppers and mushrooms, cooking until they soften, about 5 minutes.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet, pour in about ½ cup of reserved pasta water along with Italian seasoning, and stir.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing gently until well combined. Adjust the consistency with more pasta water if needed.
- Taste and adjust seasoning before serving. Optionally finish with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh herbs.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with tofu. Feel free to replace the pasta with gluten-free varieties or zoodles for a low-carb option.
