Description

A heartwarming recipe for Spiced Christmas Apple Jam filled with the flavors of the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 56 cups apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • A pinch of cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pectin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and chop the apples into small, even pieces.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a large pot, mix the chopped apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla extract.
  3. Cook the mixture: Place the pot over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves. Increase heat to boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 30-45 minutes until thickened.
  4. Check the consistency: Place a spoonful on a chilled plate; if it wrinkles when pushed, it’s done.
  5. Can and store: Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, seal with lids, and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  6. Cool and enjoy: Once cooled, store jars in a cool, dark place. Serve the jam on toast, biscuits, or ice cream.

Notes

Choose a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor. Stir frequently during cooking to prevent sticking.
