Description

Delightful Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies that are fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth treats with a rich chocolate flavor and a beautiful crinkle top.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (or sour cream)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together your flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine sugar and vegetable oil, blending until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next.
  4. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, beating on low until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  6. Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes to enhance texture.
  7. Using a cookie scoop, form balls of dough and roll in powdered sugar until fully coated.
  8. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring at least 2 inches of space between each ball.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until tops crack and set. Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Do not skip the chilling step for beautiful crinkles and to prevent spreading.
