Description
Delightful heart-shaped donuts, perfect for special occasions, filled with sweetness and love.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg or cinnamon
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and any spices.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet mixture into the flour. Then add the activated yeast. Mix until a dough forms.
- Turn it onto a floured surface and knead for 5-8 minutes until smooth and stretchy.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough out to about ½ inch thick. Use a heart-shaped cutter to cut out the donuts.
- Place the shaped donuts on parchment paper, cover, and let rise for about 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the donuts until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Allow them to cool slightly, then dip in a glaze or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Notes
For variations, try adding different fillings like vanilla custard or jam. Use sprinkles or melted chocolate for decoration.
