Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until fluffy and pale.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick and cut out heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
  7. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart, and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Decorate as desired with icing, sprinkles, or edible glitter.
