Description

A decadent chocolate cake shaped like a heart, perfect for celebrations and creating memories.


Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk; stir until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra layer of richness, prepare a simple chocolate ganache to drizzle on top of the cooled cake.
