Description
Warm, pillowy dinner rolls that are perfect for any meal, bringing joy and connection to family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar (or honey)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup butter (or coconut oil)
- 1 cup milk (or almond/oat milk)
- 1 large egg (or flax egg/applesauce)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, blend flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and milk. Stir until combined.
- Knead: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
- Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough, divide into equal portions, shape each into a ball, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Second rise: Cover the dish and let the rolls rise again until doubled, about 30-45 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush tops with melted butter and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Enjoy!: Allow to cool slightly before serving.
