- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional mix-ins: chocolate chips, nuts, or peanut butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, then stir in the granulated and brown sugars until combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt and gradually fold it into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- If using mix-ins, fold them in gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and swirl in dollops of peanut butter if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool before lifting them out and cutting into squares.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing to keep brownies fudgy.
