Description

Delightful dessert bars filled with seasonal spices and a crunchy nut crust, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dried fruits (e.g., cranberries or apricots)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine finely chopped nuts, brown sugar, and melted butter. Press into the bottom of the baking dish to form the crust.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until slightly golden. Let cool.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and stir in spices, vanilla extract, and chopped dried fruits.
  5. Pour the filling over the cooled crust and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until the filling is set.
  7. Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes, then cut into bars.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar or top with whipped cream before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute butter with coconut oil. Also, consider using oats or graham cracker crumbs if nut allergies are a concern.
