- 2–3 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar or Gruyère cheese
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and thinly slice the sweet potatoes, around ¼ inch thick.
- If using fresh cranberries, sort through them; if using dried, soak them in warm water for 10 minutes.
- In a greased baking dish, layer the sweet potatoes and cranberries, sprinkling nutmeg and salt between layers.
- Pour heavy cream over the dish, add dollops of butter, and top with grated cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30-35 minutes; remove the foil for the last 10-15 minutes to brown the top.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
