Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup brown sugar

- 1 cup molasses
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine equal parts brown and granulated sugar with water. Add in the molasses, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir gently until all ingredients are mixed.
- Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer.
- Allow the syrup to simmer for about 10-15 minutes or until it thickens slightly to a pourable consistency.
- Let the syrup cool slightly before straining it into a clean glass container to remove any gritty bits.
- Let the syrup cool completely before sealing it tightly. Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
Notes
The longer you let the syrup sit, the more flavor it develops.
