Description

A rich and luscious gingerbread syrup that evokes warm, cozy memories, perfect for pancakes, coffee, and desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine equal parts brown and granulated sugar with water. Add in the molasses, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir gently until all ingredients are mixed.
  2. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer.
  3. Allow the syrup to simmer for about 10-15 minutes or until it thickens slightly to a pourable consistency.
  4. Let the syrup cool slightly before straining it into a clean glass container to remove any gritty bits.
  5. Let the syrup cool completely before sealing it tightly. Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.

Notes

The longer you let the syrup sit, the more flavor it develops.
