Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough for at least an hour.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to create festive shapes.
  7. Place the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden.
  8. Cool on a wire rack and decorate with icing and sprinkles as desired.
