Description

These cookies are a delightful chewy form of warm cocoa, blending rich dark chocolate and subtle sweetness for a nostalgic treat perfect for winter gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 3/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (or flax eggs for vegan)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs until fully combined with the butter-sugar blend.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, forming rounds.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies. Don’t overbake for that gooey center.
