Description

A delightful blend of sweetness and nuttiness in a flaky, buttery crust. This classic Southern dessert is perfect for family gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups pecan halves
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 pie crust (homemade or pre-made)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using a homemade crust, roll it out, place it in the pie dish, and prick the bottom with a fork. If using a pre-made crust, thaw it before placing it in the dish.
  3. Toast the pecans in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt.
  5. Fold in the toasted pecans.
  6. Pour the pecan filling into the prepared crust.
  7. Bake for 60 minutes, or until set and slightly puffed.
  8. Cool for at least two hours before serving.

Notes

For a twist, consider adding a splash of bourbon to the filling. Always keep an eye on the pie while baking to prevent overbaking.
